There's a way out of anxiety, depression and fear

One of the things the pandemic brought into the world is depression. There have been increased depression and anxiety disorders since COVID hit.

Believers often go through challenges like everyone else. Some of these challenges can result in depression. For example, Elijah defeated prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel but became depressed afterward. He ran for his life when Jezebel threatened to kill him because he eliminated all the prophets of Baal. Elijah literally asked to die due to loneliness, fear and depression. What an irony!

"But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, “It is enough! Now, Lord, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!”"

I Kings 19:4 NKJV

Elijah believed he was the only prophet left in Israel. He thought the idol worshippers had killed other prophets and that all the people of God had become idol worshippers. How wrong he was! There were seven thousand people that did not compromise their faith in God.

"So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” And he said, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God of hosts; because the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.” Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him.”"

I Kings 19:13‭-‬14‭, ‬18 NKJV

Are you lonesome? Are you depressed or anxious? You're not alone. God is with you! You could not feel His presence because you're overwhelmed by fear. Fear not!

"Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God".

Philippians 4:6 AMP

Elijah was fed by the angel of God. He was given strength for his remaining journey. "Then as he lay and slept under a broom tree, suddenly an angel touched him, and said to him, “Arise and eat.” Then he looked, and there by his head was a cake baked on coals, and a jar of water. So he ate and drank, and lay down again. And the angel of the Lord came back the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you.” So he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights as far as Horeb, the mountain of God".

I Kings 19:5‭-‬8 NKJV

I pray that the Lord will give you strength for the rest of your journey on this earth. The Lord is the strength of your life! You will not faint or grow weary in Jesus name.

  • Pray

  • Talk to someone you trust.

  • Study the Bible and declare the word of God upon your situation. For example, if you're struggling with fear - speak the word of God over and over again. "The Lord has not given me the spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind". 2 Timothy 1:7

  • Take the word of God like medicine. Proverbs 4:20-22

  • Listen to sermons/ christian podcasts on your situation

  • Seek godly counsel

Fear, anxiety, depression...are not from God. The devil wants to take over your emotions and feelings; thereby making you forget the love and the promises of God. Don't let him! Take all your burdens to the Lord in prayer.
