The word 'heart' is used in two major ways. Firstly, it refers to a vital organ in the body located in the chest cavity. Without the heart, the body cannot function. It's functions include.
- Pumps blood throughout the body.
- Supplies oxygen and nutrients to cells and tissues.
- Removes wastes including carbon dioxide.
The role of the heart is very important in the body. We can say that without the heart, there won't be life because it supplies blood to the body. No blood, no life!
Similarly, the heart is also known as the center of emotions and thoughts. It's used interchangeably with the mind. For the most part, before an individual does something he or she thinks about it first thereby processing the pros and cons of the action about to be executed. It's not all actions whether good or bad that are impulsive. It all starts from the mind! No wonder the Psalmist says "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable and pleasing in Your sight, O Lord , my [firm, immovable] rock and my Redeemer."
Psalms 19:14 AMP
It's not all the words that we speak or every thought that is acceptable to God. It's my prayer that every word that you the reader of this blog speak and your thoughts shall be acceptable to God, your Creator in Jesus name. Amen
As the heart plays a major role in the body so is the mind. This is why the enemy of your soul (the devil) launches constant attacks against your mind. I've seen folks repeatedly do things they vowed never to do again. This is sad!
Why does the devil mess around with human minds?
- To cause pollution
- To steal
- To kill
- To destroy
- To disrupt the original plan of God
- To get more people to join him in hell
Why does he succeed in his missions?
- Because human beings often cooperate with him
- Sin
- Disobedience to God
- Confidence in self instead of God
- Rebellion against God
Did you know?
It's your responsibility to protect your mind from the pollutants around you. By not feeding your mind with junk such as negativity, impurities, porn, destructive movies, gossip and the likes.
"More than anything you guard, protect your mind, for life flows from it."
Proverbs 4:23 CEB
It's your responsibility to protect your mind from the pollutants around you. By not feeding your mind with junk such as negativity, impurities, porn, destructive movies, gossip and the likes.
"The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?"
Jeremiah 17:9 NKJV
This is why human beings need God for mind purification. "Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me."
Psalms 51:10 NKJV
God sees into the innermost part of the heart. What's in your heart?
...The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7b NLT
"And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."
Romans 12:1-2 NLT
We need to renew our minds constantly with the word of God, blood of Jesus and prayer. This will enable our thoughts to conform to the will of God.
If you will surrender your life, heart and spirit to God today, He will accept you, purify and deliver you from all the pollutants.
Guard your heart!
How can I have a relationship with God?
1.Confess your sins to God. Romans 3:10, 23; 5:12
2.Ask that the blood of Jesus cleanse you from all your sins. Hebrew 9:22, 1John 1:7-9.
3.Ask Jesus to come and reign in your life.
4.Forgive yourself and move on.
"Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]."
5.Read your Bible and pray everyday.
6.Pray that God will lead you to a Bible believing church and fellowship with them.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I come to you today; save me and I shall be saved. Heal me and I shall be healed. Forgive me of all my sins (confess them). Have mercy on me. Come and be the Lord over my spirit, soul and body. Help me not to go back to my old way of life - give me a new beginning. I am yours Lord! In Jesus name I pray. Amen
Important Information
Giving your life to Jesus does not mean you will not experience challenges in life. Infact, you may be persecuted because of your faith in Jesus. You may experience pain, temptations, trials, disasters, loss and so on. In the event that any of these things happen to you, know assuredly that He is with you. The difference between you and an unbeliever is God's promises - His presence and the ultimate reward which is eternity with Him in heaven.
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you."
Isaiah 43:2 AMP
"Blessed [gratefully praised and adored] be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts and encourages us in every trouble so that we will be able to comfort and encourage those who are in any kind of trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 AMP
If you continue to be in good standing with God; when you die, you will go to heaven.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven."
Matthew 7:21 AMP
