No Racial / Ethnicity / Cultural Divide

John 4:4-42

Jesus' approach to the woman at the well was:

1. Relational: Jesus could have disengaged himself when the woman brought up racial barriers and social customs between Jews and Samaritans. As much as the woman at the well gave Jesus reasons why both of them should not converse or relate, Jesus didn't relent.

2. Conversational: Jesus had a good conversation with the woman - not a monologue. She engaged her in a life changing conversation.

3. Individualized: Jesus centered his discussion on the  woman. Jesus helped her to see her ignorance in a loving way.

4. Non-judgemental: Jesus didn't condemn her in any way.

There are many lessons to learn from Jesus' approach to the woman at the well. In the end, many Samaritans believed in Jesus because of the testimony of the woman. And many more believed because of the teachings of Jesus.

And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all that I ever did.” So when the Samaritans had come to Him, they urged Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. And many more believed because of His own word. Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.”

John 4:39‭-‬42 NKJV

How do you approach people? You might want to approach people using Jesus' method.

Shalom!
